2016 Volvo XC90: Polished As Silk, Tough As Nails

By  |

In regard to the key ingredients of luxury, the reinvented 2016 Volvo XC90 ticks all the right boxes. The SUV is chock-full of the best tech features that do not in any way dampen its posh, premium image.

The SUV is sophisticated, but hardly delicate. It has achieved full marks for safety and has been awarded the five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA.

Well, the catch is that the rating does not yet apply to the FWD versions of the XC90. Only the AWD T5 and T6 models have undergone the tests and been given the highest rating from the safety administration.

The only test which it didn’t earn five stars, though four is decent enough, is the rollover crash test. But if anyone wants to be skeptical, the top-notch safety of the XC90 is vouched for by the IHS, which presented it with the 2016 Top Safety Pick+ award.

One interesting new safety feature in the Volvo XC90 is called the Run-off Road Protection. In the event of the SUV careering off-road, the seatbelts gets constricted to hold the occupants in place.
