2017 Ford F-150: More Attractive Tech On Board

By  |

The fact that the Ford F-150 continues to hold a healthy lead against the tech-filled Chevrolet Silverado proves that truckers care more about performance than tech features. Nevertheless, Blue Oval understands that consumer tastes are changing.

That’s why it is going to make Apple CarPlay and Android Auto telematics systems available on not only its full-size pickup but also its entire lineup.

This would be done via the implementation of Sync 3, a new infotainment system from the automaker. What the Google and Apple connectivity setups offer is better integration with smartphones, live traffic, and trusted navigation features.

From this, the F-150 may still not be as tech-forward as the Silverado, which also boasts Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on top of 4G LTE connectivity and in-cabin Wi-Fi hotspot.

That hardly matters, as the Blue Oval workhorse nonetheless packs better engine choices and the all-new ten-speed auto transmission. On the Raptor model, the F-150 is unmatched in torque.
