2017 Genesis G90 To Show Cadillac ELR How It’s Done!

By  |

Not all premium plug-in hybrids (PHEV) are made equal. Some are great ideas, while some shouldn’t ever have been thought of in the first place.

Unfortunately for the Cadillac ELR, which will hit extinction in 2018, consumers saw through GM’s ploy to play with some badge engineering on the Volt and milk more money from them.

Hyundai is doing no such thing with the Genesis brand. It is planning to launch a PHEV version of the G90, followed by the G80 and G70 in the future, and consumers are more readily accepting of this idea instead.

The Genesis G90 PHEV would be a suitable rival to the Volvo S90 T8. Both would arrive as attractive alternatives the equivalent BMW 7-Series and Mercedes S-Class. The Cadillac ELR on the other hand would just straggle behind and watch how premium plug-ins are properly done.

There is no specific date yet regarding the launch of the G90 PHEV, but it should be safe to assume that we’ll be hearing more about it as the year wears on.

I am a charter Genesis 4.6 owner with the 2009 model first offering. Looking forward to all the new Genesis offerings. I am very impressed. Can’t wait!
