2017 Mazda MX-5 RF: Don’t Wait Too Long

By  |

Despite being more expensive than the regular model without much in the way of special features, the 2017 Mazda MX-5 RF Launch Edition has been sold out in the US. All 1,000 units alloted for the market have been swept up by fans.

And it was done within 13 hours of ordering being opened up to the general public, which proves once again that Mazda simply cannot do wrong with its famed roadster.

This means that the regular model which starts at $31,555 – more than $5,000 pricier than the MX-5 Miata – would be a smash hit with consumers though it weighs more and uses the same powertrain.

Hence there’s the risk of the regular MX-5 running out of stock much quicker than expected. If you have an eye on one, don’t wait too long to snap it up.

Because the MX-5 RF is no less an enthusiast ride than the standard Miata, it’s not surprising that more than half of MX-5 RF Launch Edition buyers picked the six-speed manual transmission over the slush box.

Plus those who opt to row their own gears, Launch Edition or otherwise, have the option to fork out an additional $3,400 for a Brembo/BBS Package that is not available for the six-speed auto trim.

The only thing they would be missing out on is Advanced Keyless Entry which is available exclusively for those who don’t want to row their own gears.
