Introducing Stories Highlights and Stories Archive

Instagram's new Update lets you Save your favorite Stories

Instagram's new Update lets you Save your favorite Stories

The archive feature is created to automatically save your stories once it expires after 24 hours. Users will also be able to pin "Stories" content to the top of their profiles for an extended period of time, through a new feature called Stories Highlights. And in case you were wondering: yes, unless you choose to opt out of using Archive, every single Story you make will be automatically added to your Archive.

The first change is the stories archive, which lets people file away things they post to their stories for later use.

A new update will add Stories Highlights and Stories Archive to the app, to automatically save stories once they "expire" and give users the option to resurrect them in a new section.

Instagram will start saving your Stories as soon as they expire, following an update on Tuesday. To access them, press the Archive icon on your profile (that clock button that the top right side of the screen).

Another copy-and-paste of Snapchat, "Archives" is Instagram's version of Memories. As it sounds, the archive lets you save your past Stories beyond their traditional 24-hour expiration date. The Highlighted stories feature will offer them another way to personalize their pages. Once you're done, your highlight will appear as a circle on your profile that plays as a stand-alone story when someone taps it. Highlights stay on your profile until you remove them, and you can have as many highlights as you'd like. For those that don't want the auto-archive feature, you will be able to turn it off.

If you want to remove just a certain photo in your highlight, choose Edit Highlight and scroll through the images. You can now bundle your favorite stories together to create individual highlights.

Stories Highlights will enable more customization and self-expression on profiles than ever before - whether sharing the best moments with your dog, your recent family vacation, or a collection of your silliest selfies.

The private archive feature will be available to all users starting from today.

The other Instagram update is related to its new Stories archive.

While it may seem a little weird to have two new features centered around making stories last longer, that's exactly what Archive and Highlights do.
