Gobert is expected to be sidelined for one month with a strained PCL in his left knee and a bone bruise in his tibia, per Shams Charania of The Vertical. He will undergo an MRI on Saturday to confirm the initial diagnosis, and the timetable on a possible return will be clearer after that test.

The Utah Jazz watched center Rudy Gobert go down hard early in Friday's night game against the Boston Celtics, and they now know the extent of his injury.

This injury comes just two weeks after Gobert returned from an 11-game absence after a different bone bruise in his knee.

However, without Gobert, the Jazz will miss a player who is integral to their defensive identity.

Gordon Hayward left Utah for Boston this offseason, but he suffered a season-threatening leg injury in October's opening-night game for the Celtics.

The Jazz have already played without Rudy Gobert once this season.

Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell has made a bunch of noise so far this season.

The 2017 All-NBA Second Team center is now averaging 11.6 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game in his fifth NBA season. Before that injury, he led the National Basketball Association with 2.5 blocks per game this season.
