US 'will be taking names' during UN vote on Jerusalem: Haley

"The president will be watching this vote carefully and has requested I report back on those who voted against us", she wrote in a letter reports Israel based Haaretz.

She echoed that call in a Twitter post: "The US will be taking names". The draft United Nations resolution calls on all countries to refrain from establishing diplomatic missions in Jerusalem.

Fourteen other members of the Security Council supported the resolution - a move Erdogan described as "important and meaningful".

Like the Egyptian draft, the text before the assembly does not mention Mr Trump's decision but expresses "deep regret at recent decisions concerning the status of Jerusalem".

A statement from the party called the move a slap in the face for the whole world and denounced what it said was the United States' support for Israel's ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people.

A statement issued by Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein, the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, said wheelchair-bound Ibrahim Abu Thurayeh was shot in the head by Israeli security forces close to the border fence with Israel on Friday.

Only 10 such sessions have been convened, and the last time the General Assembly met in such a session was in 2009 on occupied East Jerusalem and Palestinian territories.

"On Thurs there'll be a vote criticising our choice".

"In the case of a two-thirds majority, and we think with great probability that this majority will be formed, it will be confirmed in the United Nations that the Jerusalem decision by the Trump administration is unlawful", he said.

Tzur said Trump "took a fearless and unprecedented step that none of his predecessors were willing to take and we must honor him for it".

In a letter dated December 13, Trump expressed gratitude for the gesture and satisfaction that Israelis welcomed his recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of their country - which apparently earned him the honor.

There should be an Arab state of Palestine - and there will be when the Arabs fully accept Israel as a Jewish state. Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said that those countries who voted for the resolution "have only reaffirmed the UN's decades-long double standard when it comes to Israel".
