Kulbhushan Jadhav under no threat of immediate execution says Pakistan

New Delhi then had urged Islamabad to also allow Jadhav's mother to accompany his wife along with an Indian diplomat and had also requested for a sovereign guarantee to ensure their safety and security during the visit. Pakistan has issued visas to both the ladies.

The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi on Wednesday issued visas to the wife and mother of the former Indian Naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav, who will meet him on December 25, Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad Faisal tweeted.

Earlier this month, Pakistan said that it would allow them to meet him on humanitarian grounds. Pakistan in November said it is "considering" India's request to let Kulbhushan Jadhav's mother meet him, apart from his wife who has already received permission to visit the Indian death row prisoner.

Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal on Thursday said that the first phase of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would be completed by 2020 while the entire project would be functional by 2030. "We await Indian decision in this regard". India rejected the allegations that Jadhav had any connection with RAW. Pakistani officials said there were still two forums of appeal left for Mr. Jadhav even if the Army Chief turns down his mercy appeal. India, however, maintains that Jadhav was kidnapped from Iran where he had business interests after retiring from the Indian Navy.

Jadhav was arrested in Pakistan's Balochistan Province over charges of alleged involvement in espionage and subversive activities for India's intelligence agency - the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

The International Court of Justice in May halted his execution on India's appeal.

The ICJ has asked Pakistan to submit its response or memorial by December 13 before the court could start further proceedings in the case.
