Mariah Carey is set to headline ABC's annual "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve" performance on December 31, despite having bombed the prior year's performance.

The singer confirmed she will be returning to perform at the famous Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve event this year after a series of technical glitches marred her show last year. It quickly devolved into a war of gossip and finger pointing that would coincidentally define the year that would follow. It is the television business, after all, where ratings are queen. She was visibly upset and at points stopped singing, despite a pre-recorded track playing in the background. The production company denied the claims and reiterated that Carey's performance was troubled because she didn't properly rehearse.

But later on, after making several headlines for the mishap-filled show, Carey's reps cited "technical issues" as the reason that the performance went downhill. Bulochnikov said, "It was a disastrous production. She was the biggest star there, and they did not have their" act together. Dick Clark Productions fired back at Carey's team, claiming that the singer's allegations were "absurd."

Carey, it seems, is ultimately taking their word for it.

The "All I Want for Christmas is You" singer joins Nick Jonas, Camila Cabello and Sugarland for the evening affair, hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

"We can all agree that previous year didn't go exactly as planned, and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration", Carey and Dick Clark Productions said in a joint statement that accompanied the announcement.

Mariah Carey has confirmed that she will return to Times Square in NY to ring in 2018.
