This year the Pac-12 saw Oregon, UCLA, Arizona, Stanford, Washington State, Arizona State, USC and Washington all lose and the Utes be the only team to pick up a win.

The Nittany Lions jumped out to an early 21-7 lead and held on for a 35-28 win after Washington closed to within a touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Nittany Lions also have a stout defense but the Huskies' D is slightly better, surrendering just 14.5 points per game and 278.3 yards per contest, which ranks fifth and sixth in the nation, respectively. Washington (10-3) woke up from an offensive slumber with two touchdowns and pulled to 35-28 on Myles Gaskins' 69-yard run in the fourth quarter. But Penn State took over and bled most of the remaining seven minutes from the clock thanks to clutch third-down conversions from Barkley and wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton.

Washington had a shot with a desperation play, but Dante Pettis passed up a chance to step out of bounds to set up another play, and threw a final lateral that was intercepted.

He finished the game 32-41 passing for 322 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Penn State star running back Saquon Barkley will play in this game after some speculation he may not because of his leaving for the National Football League draft. On Saturday, its second-best team - Washington - wasn't faring much better in the Fiesta Bowl. The first TD opened the scoring when he caught a 48-yard touchdown from quarterback Trace McSorley on the game's opening drive.

Washington was the final Pac-12 team to play in a bowl after the 2017 season. The conference's only victory is Utah's over West Virginia in something called the Heart of Dallas Bowl, which is at the bottom of the bottom-feeders. That year Minnesota, Northwestern, Penn State, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan State all suffered losses in their bowl games while Iowa was the only team to walk away victorious.
