2018 Jeep Wrangler: Smaller Version Of Ram 1500

By  |

There has been word that a mid-size version of the Ram 1500 pickup is in the works, though nothing has officially come from FCA’s camp on this possibility. Whether it’s true or not, a smaller Ram 1500 wouldn’t be necessary.

That’s because the 2018 Jeep Wrangler would arrive as a pickup as well, and if early spy shots of the vehicle’s prototype is any indication, the variant of the famed 4×4 would look a lot like its Dodge cousin.

But it’s not just the bed behind the C-pillar that would draw Wrangler closer to the Ram, as a 3.0L turbo EcoDiesel engine has also been confirmed for Jeep’s first compact truck. In the Ram EcoDiesel, the engine produces 240hp and 420lb-ft torque.

The one major difference between the two pickups, besides their size and design, would be their build. While the next-gen Wrangler is undergoing a shift to aluminum for its hood and door panels, the redesigned Ram 1500 would continue to utilize steel.
