2018 Porsche 911 GT3: Can’t Argue With 500hp!

By  |

The Porsche 911 GT3 has arrived in a new guise for 2018 and it’s safe to say at this point that reactions are mixed. Some folks like what’s been done to the 991.2 GT3 while some feel that the styling modifications aren’t to their tastes.

That’s fair. Its new front bumper and tweaked rear fascia don’t exactly have the most elegant touches, so to many they would seem to be off the mark. What we can all agree on, nevertheless, is that 500hp sounds pretty awesome.

That figure is accompanied by up to 338lb-ft worth of kick from a naturally-aspirated 4.0L flat six. This mill is similar to the those of the GT3 RS and 911 R, but different in that this particular one is derived from the GT3 and RSR racing models, tailored for the GT3.

And of course, in keeping with the theme of purity for enthusiasts, the new 911 GT3 comes with the option of a six-speed manual, though the default setup sees it employ the automaker’s vaunted seven-speed dual-clutch PDK.

Picking the stick shift is a better idea for those who want the GT3 to be quicker on its feet, given that that’s the lighter choice.

Apart from that, the ride’s chassis has been tuned for improved driving dynamics and some extra goodies have been thrown in – such as a carbon fiber rear spoiler, rear axle steering, as well as a new diffuser and exhaust pipes.
