2018 Range Rover Shares Hybrid With F-Pace

It had been revealed recently that between Land Rover and Jaguar, the former would stick with hybridization while the latter takes on full electrification. However, that doesn’t mean that the brands wouldn’t share one of two things.

JLR is ready to introduce a plug-in hybrid powertrain called the Electric Drive Module (EDM) to replace the current diesel hybrid mill that’s been around for a number of years.

While the PHEV uses a turbo-four worth 295hp, the total output would be reduced to 201hp in the setup that includes an eight-speed auto transmission from ZF, at least according to Autocar.

As for all-electric range, Autoevolution believes that the EDM would be capable of more than 30 miles. Besides the standard Range Rover, this new powertrain is reportedly making its way into the Range Rover Sport and Jaguar F-Pace as well.

It has been known for some time now that the Jaguar crossover would be welcoming electrified models in the coming years, and a PHEV seems like the appropriate stepping stone.
