A crowd, consisting mainly of children and families, gathered in Heritage Hall at the Tony's Pizza Events Center to celebrate the fun, free, "Noon Year's Eve" event.

Saturday's event included a lot of activities, and started off with a short storytime, according to Angela Knight, children's services supervisor.

This is the fifth year Provo Beach has hosted the Noon Year's Eve event, but for several years prior to that it was organized by The Shops at Riverwoods, Jenkins said.

As the kids and families moved around, some stopped to dance to the music or play an impromptu game of tag.

Their parents were sitting nearby, relaxing for a moment amid a busy New Year's Eve day. Many were dressed up for the celebration, and some even had face paint for the festivities.

If you feel like getting in a good run tomorrow, wrap up 2017 on a high note with runners at the 33rd annual "Noon Year Run" at Washington Park.

Sunday is New Years Eve and many will be staying up until midnight to ring in the new year.

McGuinness, of Sykesville, stood with Noah as he iced his ice cream cone and added Skittles.

"I really liked the Indians", he said.

"These community events are wonderful because it does bring out all people from our area to enjoy and have fun together as a family", Santa Maria resident Felicia Balezentes said. This year they added a breakfast buffet provided by Hy-Vee.

"It's gets us out of the house", she added.
