Long lines of people waiting to go through customs at Miami International Airport due to a reported computer issue

WASHINGTON-Immigration desk computers at various airports went down for about two hours on Monday, causing long lines for travelers entering the United States after year-end holidays, according to Customs and Border Protection and posts on social media.

While Customs said its systems were restored by about 10 p.m., airports warned passengers to expect delays tonight.

Approximately 2,000 passengers were stuck in line at Miami International Airport, where this video was filmed.

The agency said it had access to the national security-related databases during the outage.

Long lines and delays were report from New York To Denver to Miami. Addressing security concerns, the US Customs and Borders Protection said that there was no indication that the service disruption was malicious in nature.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport also tweeted about a "system issue affecting processing times for customs".

CBP officers continued to process global passengers using alternative procedures, but the agency acknowledged that travelers at some ports of entry experienced longer than usual wait times.

CBP said travelers at "some ports of entry experienced longer than usual wait times".

A spokesperson tells CBS News that Customs and Border Patrol has been contacted and are investigating. It said Monday night that all airports were back on line.
