Mad Catz returns with a new owner, new ideas and new products

"Mad Catz has been a permanent fixture in gaming for nearly three decades and we firmly believe it's best days lie ahead", said Selena Chang, Director of Sales and Operations for Mad Catz Global Limited in a release. A Chinese group that previously worked with the company on the manufacturing side has acquired the company name and its accessories.

The revitalized Mad Catz is set to release several new products at CES this year.

At the moment, the new-look Mad Catz has discussed a little about the new products it has in production.

Key products in the new range include the R.A.T.an-all new version of the iconic, fully-adjustable gaming mouse, now with a state-of-the-art wireless power system.

The factory workers, who wanted to keep the Mad Catz name alive, spun off the assets into a new entity named Mad Catz Global Limited.

Less than a year after the company went dark following a string of financial hits, Mad Catz returns today under new management. This is a wireless mouse that will be powered via a "wireless activation gaming surface", or through a USB cable, if required. Hopefully this means we will see a few more mad-cat mice designs in the near-future, and ideally the new bosses can lead the company down some new and intriguing avenues for their product design.

The S.T.R.I.K.E. 4 keyboard is aluminum with mechanical switches (the company has not said what it's using) and RGB backlighting.

Mad Catz Interactive has now become Mad Catz Global, and is being run out of Hong Kong instead of the US.

Mad Catz Global Limited, the legendary brand, leading innovation in gaming hardware for nearly three decades, announced a surprise return to the worldwide gaming scene.

The new Mad Catz will unveil its new products at CES 2018. Mad Catz is also making earbuds that are equipped with a boom mic, as well as the dangerous-looking Rat Pro X3 that features a swappable thumb rest, palm rest, pinkie rest, scroll wheel, and more.

Mad Catz are also planning a new RAT mouse, the Air.
