Katie Nolan tests ESPN's new politics policy by calling President Trump stupid

ESPN's Katie Nolan Called Donald Trump A 'F*cking Stupid Person' On 'Desus and Mero'

ESPN's Katie Nolan has ignited some controversy after comment made on Viceland's late-night comedy show "Desus & Mero" on Thursday night.

Nolan and the program's hosts discussed whether the thumbs-up sign is a "white power" symbol.

Less than three months into her ESPN tenure, Katie Nolan already is testing boundaries at a network that desperately wants its personalities to stick to sports.

When Desus Nice pointed out that Trump frequently makes a thumbs up gesture, Nolan burst out with a string of bleeped out expletives, which she then amends to, 'that's because he's a f*****g stupid person'.

Nolan also joked about Patriots QB Tom Brady not being smart and that she was on a lot of meds for a head cold. That policy stems from the controversy surrounding Jemele Hill, who called Trump a white supremacist on Twitter and was later suspended for discussing a boycott of the National Football League advertisers.

ESPN says in a statement Saturday that it "looked into the totality of Nolan's comments". After Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told his players they would be benched if they did not stand for the national anthem, Hill tweeted that NFL fans could choose not to patronize the team's vendors and advertisers.

ESPN viewers quickly took to social media questioning the company's position on Nolan's comments.

Hill made her comments in October, 2017, and was suspended by the network. Her new podcast for ESPN is expected to launch on January 10.
