Reliance Jio cuts Rs 50 from internet plans as a New Year scheme

Under the updated Rs 448 plan, Airtel subscribers will get unlimited voice calls and 1GB 3G/4G data per day with a validity of Rs 82 days, up from 70 days.

The company's flagship Rs 399 plan will now provide 20% additional data with a validity of two additional weeks, increasing the current validity from 70 to 84 days.

Starting Tuesday, the Rs. 199, Rs. 399, Rs. 459 and Rs. 499 Jio plans will cost Rs. 149, Rs. 349, Rs. 399 and Rs. 449, respectively.

Shortly after Idea and Airtel launched 10-day validity plans under ₹100, offering free calling and 1GB of data to match Jio's plans, the Mukesh Ambani-owned telco late last week unleashed another price disruption, giving 50% extra data or a discount of ₹50 to those who have subscribed to its plans that offered 1GB of data per day.

All these data packs come with their similar offer of unlimited calls, SMS bundle, and access to Jio's bundle of applications. The pack come with a validity of 28 days, which means users will get 98GB of 4G data per month.

Having said that, at the time of writing this, Airtel's ₹448 and ₹509 prepaid plans aren't available in all the circles, hence, do check the price of a prepaid plan, data offered and the validity before you recharge. After Reliance Jio made a recent attempt to give competitors a tough time, the leader of the Indian telecom market Airtel revealed it had a neat trick up its sleeve. However, both the plans differed in terms of validity. Airtel offers unlimited voice calls and 1GB daily data.

Rs 198 plan: Jio now offers more data on this.

Airtel's Rs 549 recharge offer gives users 84GB data for 28 days.

Users with a bigger appetite for data will also get a healthy boost. In total, the plan is offering 70GB of data.

Rs 448 plan: Jio now offers 126GB data for 84 days.

Rs 498 plan: The new data amount is 136GB 4G data for 91 days.
