Battle Royale Game 'Fear the Wolves' Announced, Coming 2018

Fear of the Wolves is a new post-apocalyptic battle royale game from the developers of STALKER

The game is being developed by Vostok Games, a studio comprised of ex-S.T.A.L.K.E.R. devs, who fittingly are very familiar with designing Chernobyl-inspired levels. Fear the Wolves means to offer a new and original take on the battle royale genre that has grown increasingly popular over the previous year with the release of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Fear the Wolves is set to be a "new and original take" on the battle royale genre now dominated by PUBG and Fortnite. Besides the 100 player matches where you fight until the last person/squad is alive, there will be a uniquely designed original game mode that brings a new twist to the genre. The game won't launch with only a single game mode.

As well as the threat of other survivors, players will have to watch out for "deadly anomalies" and the dynamic weather system.

Again, there weren't many specifics in the press release, but the possibilities are fun to think about.

Vostok Games also mentioned "mutated creatures" lurking around the wastelands of Chernobyl but we have no idea of the role they will be playing in actual gameplay. This sort of meta-narrative is the kind of thing that can mean the difference between a game that's hot for a week versus one that players come back to for years on end. The game will feature a full day-night cycle and challenge players to adapt to a multitude of situations and dangers. Though we don't have a release date yet, we do know that the game is slated to drop on the Steam Early Access program sometime this year - though further details beyond that have yet to be revealed.
