Gerber announces Lucas Warren to be 'spokesbaby' with Down syndrome

A Dalton baby is this year’s winner

In 2010, Gerber launched the Photo Search to celebrate these adorable babies and choose a special victor. "They're people first, and their diagnosis is just something they have". She posted a photo of Lucas on Instagram using the contest hashtag, and later the family was notified that Lucas won.

One-year-old Lucas Warren was chosen out of over 140,000 photo entries, and CEO and President Bill Partyka said it was his smile and happy disposition that made him their victor.

Lucas's father, Jason Warren, sees this as an opportunity to make the world more inclusive for children with Down syndrome.

When he's not melting the hearts of everyone he meets, Lucas loves playing peek-a-boo, watching Disney shows, and listening to music, particularly a capella.

Cortney Warren says she's never met someone who didn't meet her son, Lucas, and didn't smile.

Lucas, who sported a blue button-down and mini bowtie, loves to wave and play the piano, said his dad, Jason. The 18-month-year old from Dalton is officially the Gerber spokesbaby for 2018. "We want everybody to think, 'Hey, Lucas has Down syndrome, what can I do [to help the cause]?' We hope it snowballs from there". "We're hoping when he grows up and looks back on this, he'll be proud of himself and not ashamed of his disability".
