Marc-Andre Fleury back in Pittsburgh, but this time as a Golden Knight

Pittsburgh counts a great many sports legends among its storied past, but very few - if any - is more beloved than Marc-Andre Fleury.

Fleury will most certainly want more during his return to Pittsburgh. The Penguins wanted to honor their old friend - and they did - but they also wanted to win.

The Penguins poured in five goals in a 16-minute stretch spanning the end of the second period and beginning of the third, securing a 5-4 victory in the goaltender's first game in the building since he was taken by the Vegas Golden Knights in last June's expansion draft. The Penguins say its not unusual for Shazier to attend games during the National Football League offseason.

The first goal came when Kessel picked off a pass in the defensive zone to start a two-on-one break that Malkin finished with a shot past Fleury's blocker about three minutes in.

The first half of Tuesday night's game was filled with moments Marc-Andre Fleury will always remember.

Jake Guentzel, Ryan Reaves and Ian Cole also scored for Pittsburgh, which won for the fifth time in six games. Fleury happily accepted a mentor role, helping young goaltender Matt Murray blossom.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier is still making progress after a devastating neck injury.

Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel each had a goal and an assist as the Penguins won their eighth straight home game. The Western Conference leaders have 20 wins in their last 28 games.

- Fleury helped lead the team to three Stanley Cup titles.

Murray stepped in when Fleury went down on the eve of the 2016 playoffs.

- Fleury had 17,774 saves, the most in Penguins franchise history. Fleury waived his no-movement clause before the trade deadline so the Penguins could protect Murray.

Ducks 4, Sabres 3 (OT): Adam Henrique scored the overtime victor for visiting Anaheim, and Ducks goalie Ryan Miller earned a victory in a return to the city in which he spent the bulk of his career.

In Raleigh, North Carolina, Jordan Weal scored with 3.1 seconds left in overtime and Philadelphia topped the Hurricanes. Elias Lindholm scored for the Hurricanes, who dropped to 2-2-1 on a season-high, eight-game homestand.

Avalanche 3, Sharks 1: Jonathan Bernier made 38 saves and Tyson Jost and J.T. Compher each had a goal and an assist to lead Colorado past San Jose for a ninth consecutive home win.
