Apple Said to Launch New Larger iPhone in 2018

Apple's Short Interest Rises 7 Million Shares, but Does It Matter?

Apple's Short Interest Rises 7 Million Shares, but Does It Matter?

A new report by Bloomberg claims that the iPhone X Plus will have a "screen close to 6.5 inches" and a display "as sharp as the one on the iPhone X".

The report says that the body of this so-called iPhone X Plus will feature roughly the same dimensions as the iPhone 8 Plus, but with an OLED screen which is an inch larger thanks to most of the bezels getting cut. Along with the biggest ever iPhone, two more iPhones would also debut - one would be as big as the current iPhone X, and the other would be a less expensive model, according to Bloomberg.

The handsets are expected include features from the iPhone X including Face ID scanner, stainless steel edges and run on the A12 processor.

"Apple is considering a gold color option for the update to the iPhone X and the larger model", said Gurman.

People familiar with the matter said the company is now engaged in production tests with iPhone suppliers, and the new models will reach the market this fall. Although the report focuses mostly on what it calls a "giant high-end iPhone", it also includes a few details on Apple's upcoming sequels to the iPhone X and iPhone 8.

Aside from a dual-SIM, the sources also said there could be a gold option, being perceived as a popular offering in Asia, for the updated iPhone X, and for the larger iPhone X Plus.

Apple reportedly launch it's largest iPhone ever, as well as a budget-friendly model later this year. The new, affordable devices will feature the edge-to-edge screen seen on the iPhone X in order to give the device a more modern feel. These rumors fit previous leaks that claimed the device would have a 6.5 inch screen, making it the largest phone out of all the competitors on the market. The iPhone X aside, Apple's recent phones have been closely aligned with 2014's design language.

The new lineup is created to meet the demands of all kinds of iPhone users from those that love the complex features of phablets to those looking for an iPhone that is less costly than the iPhone X.

Perhaps more interesting is Apple's decision to apparently go for the economy market. Apple is already running a production test with suppliers. A dual-SIM capability would provide a compromise. This may be scrapped, however, if they proceed with their E-SIM tech that lets devices connect to cellular networks without inserting the traditional SIM card.
