The budget airline cancelled all flights for today after a red alert was put in place for Ireland. Travelers on cancelled flights can claim a full refund if they no longer wish to travel.

Ryanair has announced that it is now planning for a return to full operations, in all Irish airports, this Saturday, 3 March.

Ryanair blamed its most recent decisions on Brexit and air passenger duty (APD), with airport bosses also calling for the Scottish Government to introduce its proposed cheaper air departure tax (ADT).

Hundreds of flights in and out of the country have been cancelled today due to Storm Emma.

While public transportation doesn't seem to be severely impacted by today's weather, the same can't be said for flights departing from and coming into the city.

All trains and buses have finished for the day and remaining flight services at Shannon Airport will finish at 6pm.

The message states: "Adverse Weather " For the latest flight information we advise passengers to talk directly to their airlines. "We appreciate this is frustrating and would also like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their patience during these extreme weather conditions".

A spokesperson for Luton Airport said: "London Luton Airport is fully operational and open as usual".

Heavy snowfall in the United Kingdom has caused widespread flight cancellations at United Kingdom airports.

Additional cancellations are expected as New Jersey the winter weather intensifies throughout the day and those with travel plans are being encouraged to check for cancellations throughout the day.

If your flight is cancelled entirely, you're unlikely to be covered by your insurance.

Passengers whose flights are cancelled or heavily delayed by bad weather are not entitled to cash compensation, but the airline must provide meals and, if necessary, overnight accommodation to stranded travellers.
