Samsung Galaxy S9 Has the Best Smartphone Camera, Too

US mobile network T Mobile has confirmed plans to bring Android Oreo to the Galaxy S6

US mobile network T Mobile has confirmed plans to bring Android Oreo to the Galaxy S6

Samsung's Galaxy S9 screen has been awarded DisplayMate's Best Performing Smartphone Display Award and its "highest ever A+ grade". The S9's screen reflectance of 4.4% is the lowest that DisplayMate has ever measured for a smartphone as well.

The Pixel 2, widely regarded as the best camera phone till date, has a DxOMark score of 98 while the S9 Plus has received a score of 99.

In any event, Samsung was able to beat out the Google Pixel 2 XL for the top spot, something it was not able to do a year earlier with its Galaxy S8+ vs. the original Pixel XL. According to DxOMark, the Galaxy S9+ features a camera setup that hasn't got any obvious weaknesses. Samsung says that the "Dual Aperture" works in the range of "F1.5 / F2.4" and automatically lets in more light when it's dark and less light when it's too bright to capture photos that are crisp and clear. The Galaxy S9+ comes with OIS on both sensors, and the second lens is a 12MP telephoto one with 2X zoom and f/2.4 aperture. DXOMark also rates the video shooting capabilities high, stating that the camera had very good stabilization, fast and accurate autofocus, good noise reduction and detail preservation, and decent white balance.

The display on the Galaxy S9 may be the same size as its predecessor, but Samsung has made a ton of improvements. DxOMark hasn't, to my knowledge, tested the single camera system in the normal S9. The device has managed to score 522 out of 555 points on HTML5 which is better than Galaxy Note 8's score of 488 points and Galaxy S9's score of 517 on the same benchmarking site. The camera also supports super-Slow-Mo recording flawless for capturing every moment, and features personalized AR emoji for a more fun and way of expressing yourself. Both models are set to launch worldwide on March 16.
