Weeks after the Dallas Mavericks found themselves grappling with a major sexual misconduct scandal, owner Mark Cuban has also come under the microscope over a 2011 allegation of sexual assault in a nightclub.

The claim is that Cuban allegedly thrust his hand down the back of her trousers and "penetrated her vagina".

"I filed the report because what he did was wrong", she was quoted as saying by Willamette Week.

But in an email to the Associated Press, the billionaire simply wrote: 'It didn't happen'. The news broke just two weeks after Sports Illustrated published a report claiming that Cuban's National Basketball Association team had fostered an hostile work environment, rife with misogyny and sexual harassment. While the picture was being taken, the Mavericks' owner allegedly thrust his hand down the back of the woman's jeans and "penetrated her vagina with his finger". Sneed has reportedly been fired since the publication of Sports Illustrated's report.

When police contacted Cuban to discuss the women's allegations seven years ago, Cuban's reaction was considerably less measured. "I stand behind that report 1,000 percent".

Cuban has denied that such an incident took place.

"There is no evidence to corroborate the complainant's statement and there is evidence contradicting the claim", prosecutors wrote in a report explaining why they weren't pursuing the case, adding that the woman didn't want to proceed either.

"These allegations are thoroughly investigated by the Multnomah County District's Attorney's Office and the Portland Police Bureau", Houze said in a statement, as per Willamette Weekly.

Prosecutors declined to purse the case due to lack of evidence.

According to Portland Police Department documents obtained by Willamette Week, a woman ran into Cuban while out on the town with her boyfriend following a Mavericks game against the Portland Trailblazers in April 2011. One image is described as "Cuban reaching down towards her buttocks". Brendan McGuire that Cuban was "very drunk" at the night club where the incident is alleged to have occurred.

The report included claims of inappropriate sexual conduct by former CEO Terdema Ussery and raised questions about what Cuban knew and when.
