Technical issue causes huge delays at Sydney Airport

The airport is now experiencing technical issues at security and check-in desks, causing major interruptions to outbound flights.

Sydney Airport is playing catch up processing passengersin the global terminal, and one of two of the domestic terminals, after a technical issue caused chaos and delays.

Jetstar expected the issue to create a backlog of up to two hours throughout the day. "The majority of delayed services are within 30 minutes to 60 minutes", it said in a statement.

'Passengers are now being processed through security as per usual, ' a spokeswoman said.

"Please contact your airline for flight status". Photos and videos of the airport showed uncomfortably long queues as passengers crowded the terminal as a result of the outage.

POLICE have flocked to Brisbane International Airport to deal with an ongoing "security matter" that has caused security screenings to be cancelled.

"We are experiencing outbound delays while we fix this technical issue which we're working to rectify as quickly as we can", Sally Fielke, general manager of Corporate Affairs at the airport, told the ABC.

Passengers are being urged to avoid these terminals as the airport staff work to resolve the issue. "We're advising passengers and visitors to avoid T1 and T2 until further notice", Sydney Airport said on Twitter.
