Pentagon issues memo with guidance for Trump's military parade

The United States Department of Defense is all set to fulfill President Donald Trump's dream of carrying out a military parade in Washington D.C. The route will be from the White House to the U.S. Capitol Building.

Pentagon plans call for "wheeled vehicles only, no tanks", as they would tear up city roads.

The event, which will take place November 11, will include troops from different branches, highlight the growing role of women in the armed forces and have a "heavy air component" of modern and historic war planes, the memo says.

"Consideration must be given to minimize damage to local infrastructure", the memo reads.

The parade Trump was referring to is the Bastille Day parade he attended a year ago in Paris.

President Donald Trump's requested military parade will likely take place on Veterans Day and stretch between the U.S. Capitol and the White House, a Pentagon memo from this week shows.

The parade will focus on the contributions of American veterans throughout the history of the USA military, starting with the Revolutionary War, and highlight the evolution of women veterans from World War II to the present, according to the memo.

As planning continues, the memo gave no more details on the type of weaponry to be featured in the parade.

The Joint Staff is in charge of organizing the event, while the Northern Command will execute it on the day of.

Trump ordered the celebration last month after he was enthralled by the pomp and circumstance of Bastille Day on a visit to France.

The parade will also feature period uniforms from the Old Guard Fife and Drum, a unit that parades in period uniform.

Organizers also reportedly hope to "highlight the evolution of women Veterans from separate formations in World War II to today's integrated formations". "President Trump is incredibly supportive of America's great service members who risk their lives every day to keep our country safe". The Veterans Day date means the parade will happen less than a week after election day, a day some have predicted will bring a "blue wave" of Democrats into office.
