A former New Orleans Saints cheerleader reportedly filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claiming the organization holds cheerleaders and players to separate standards. Davis claims that the post did not violate her code of conduct, as her Instagram was set to private in accordance with team regulations and she was not nude, seminude, or wearing lingerie. According to the New York Times, Saints cheerleaders have been told that if they enter a restaurant where a Saints player is already eating, they must leave.

In her complaint, Davis claims she was sacked by the Saints for posting a photo of herself in a one-piece bathing suit on her private Instagram and for attending a party at which Saints players may have been in attendance. They are also compelled to block the players on social media.

But NFL players have no limit on who can follow them on social media and aren't punished for reaching out to the cheerleaders.

Her mother was a choreographer for the cheerleaders, so Davis grew up around the team.

Sara Blackwell, Davis" lawyer, told The New York Times: "If the cheerleaders can't contact the players, then the players shouldn't be able to contact the cheerleaders.

Discrimination is to such an extent that the cheerleaders have to leave a restaurant where a player turns up.

National Football League players don't exactly have a reputation for being champions of women's rights. "For now, it is sufficient to say that Ms. Davis was not subjected to discrimination because of her gender". But it came with stern rules; the team banned any fraternization with players.

"Very poor judgement to post a picture like that especially considering our recent conversations about the rumors going around about u", Deaton wrote Davis in a text message.

The complaint asserts that while female cheerleaders must heed numerous behavioral guidelines, no such restrictions exist for male players, who often post shirtless photos and are free to like photos of cheerleaders.

Despite working for and being employed by the New Orleans Saints, the cheerleaders are not allowed to wear the franchise's merchandise, according to the paper.

"Honestly when I posted it, I was thinking more it was a strong picture, it showed my muscle tone", said Davis.

The Saints responded to The Times with a statement that said, "At the appropriate time and in the appropriate forum, the Saints will defend the organization's policies and workplace rules".

"I think they're both representatives of the Saints and the NFL". "This does not help your case". She has started a movement called #leveltheplayingfield - one that treats all members of the team equally. As the team cheerleaders are all women, Davis argues that this is a form of discrimination. She was told it could attract attention from players.
