Pink-haired whistleblower at heart of Facebook scandal

According to reports and recent revelations from whistle blower Christopher Wylie, Cambridge Analytica, a political consultant firm, began collecting private information about Facebook users in 2014 for political purposes, a violation of Facebook's user agreement.

Christopher Wylie, who worked for Cambridge Analytica, alleges that the data was used to help to build profiles on American voters and build support for Donald Trump in the United States presidential election.

Former Lib Dem colleague Ben Rathe had a less complementary description of Wylie, tweeting that he "thinks he's Edward Snowden, when he's actually Walter Mitty" - a reference to a fictional character with a vivid fantasy life.

The official British note of approval was one of over 100 pages of documents handed over to the digital, media, culture and sport select committee by Cambridge Analytica whistleblower Christopher Wylie earlier this week, following a oral hearing that lasted almost four hours.

CA/SCL has a database of over 600 districts and seven lakh villages in India and it helps "clients to identify and target key groups within the population to effectively influence their behaviour to realise the desired outcome", the pictures shared by him read.

The timing of the work suggests that the £42,000 ($59,000) contract was signed after the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data watchdog, opened an investigation into the use of data analytics for political purposes that has focused on Cambridge Analytica's work.

The slides that Wylie also put out reiterated claims made on OBI's website that SCL India has over 10 regional offices across the country.

"I believe their client was Congress but I know that they have done all kinds of project".

2009 National Elections In the 2009 general elections, SCL India managed the campaign of anumber of Lok Sabha candidates. "But they do have offices there, they do have staff", Wylie said while speaking at the UK Parliament.

He said people running CA are rich like Mr Nix - who he claimed once paid £200,000 for a chandelier - and 'they need something to keep them occupied...

Christopher Wylie has been hailed as "the millennials' first great whistleblower" after revealing the huge Facebook data breach, that tag alone should give you reason to seriously question some of the self promoting fantasy this guy is spinning. Other work included the 2003 Madhya Pradesh elections for a "national party" and electoral research and strategy for the JD (U) during the Bihar elections in 2010.

It looks like the Cambridge Analytica and Facebook data leak controversy will not die down soon. But the man who was in charge of the Colorado group that used the firm during the 2014 election says neither he nor the group possesses the data.

Prasad tweeted, "Rahul Gandhi needs to apologise to the nation for trying to subvert India's election process using the Brahmastra of Cambridge Analytica". Why is India's perpetually lying Law Minister (Ravi Shankar Prasad) throwing allegations in the media.

A report in the Bucharest Herald at the time of his death said he was a 32 year-old LSE graduate, who had coordinated election campaigns in Europe, Africa and the US. One report stated that Tyagi had "accompanied Cambridge Analytica CEO Alexander Nix and his team while they were in Delhi".

Wylie believes that it is "very reasonable" to say that CA's activities may have swung the Brexit vote, although he stressed he was not anti-Facebook, anti-social media or anti-data.
