Trump praises economy, blames Dems on DACA

They really let them down. "They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA", he tweeted on Sunday.

A leader of the caravan countered that Trump is using it as a "pretext" to stop any deal on DACA that would provide those qualified - as many as 1.8 million people - a path to citizenship. The group organized two similar caravans in 2017 and has aided migrants and refugees on the move for over 15 years, according to its website.

The mention of a caravan apparently referred to a group of 1,500 men, women and children from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador who are traveling in a "refugee caravan" organized by the US -based immigration advocacy group Pueblo sin Fronteras, whose Spanish name means People Without Borders.

He declared on Easter Sunday there would be "NO MORE DACA DEAL" to resolve the problem while saying Mexico is doing little, if nothing to prevent immigrants from coming to the US illegally.

Trump tweeted that the USA must build a border wall, but argued that "Democrats want No Borders, hence drugs and crime!" Here are the facts.

Lawmakers from both parties on several occasions had presented Trump with possible solutions for the Dreamers, but he never accepted any of them because they either didn't allot sufficient money to build the controversial wall on the Mexican border or didn't ban the current system of immigrant family reunification, or what he calls "chain migration".

"More enforcement will not prevent people from coming to the United States escaping war, poverty from their home countries", she said in a telephone interview.

USA support for Hernandez didn't begin with Trump: President Barack Obama's administration also backed the leader, viewing allegations of domestic corruption and abuse as secondary to his willingness to cooperate with the United States on security issues.

"Catch and release" is not a law but shorthand for immigration officials freeing up detention center space by allowing immigrants to remain at large if they are not seen as security risks. Judd also said that immigrants can also be released if they claim asylum.

Brandon Judd, leader of the union representing border patrol agents, predicted on "Fox & Friends" that those in the caravan would create havoc and chaos in the U.S.as they wait for what he described as immigration reform.

"A lot of people are coming in because they want to take advantage of DACA", Trump told the traveling press pool.

Trump on Monday also reiterated his call for Mexico to stop people from entering the United States, after saying on Sunday he would terminate a major trade accord with Mexico if it does not do more to secure its border with the United States.

Immigrant "caravans" have been a popular topic on Fox News, and Trump urged Congress "to stop the massive inflow of Drugs and People". It carried the headline: "CARAVAN OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS HEADED TO U.S".

In the interim, renegotiation talks on NAFTA have become progressively worse, and more combative, as trade representatives from Canada, and Mexico are forced to deal with the new, America First, demands of the Trump Administration.

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or Daca, was an Obama-era programme which shielded undocumented migrants brought to the U.S. as children, known as Dreamers, from the threat of deportation.

Since taking office more than a year ago, Trump has focused on cracking down on legal and undocumented immigration.

Trump, when addressing reporters briefly before entering the church, again blamed Democrats for failing to protect the "Dreamers".

It should be noted that the migrants who are traveling in the caravan, no matter their age, would not qualify for DACA.

The Daca -Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals- is a scheme providing protected status to those who entered the USA illegally as children. Under the president's orders, renewal applications for people who already benefitted from the program needed to have been turned in by October 5, 2017.
