Rather than running around, Paxton just stood there until the eagle left and chose to set on the ground again.

The other possibility is that the eagle could tell that Paxton is Canadian and wanted to put a little fear in him.

Both Dozier and Buxton reviewed playing Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh in snow flurries, and Dozier touched on a game vs. Tampa a few years back in April where it snowed at Target Field. He was surprised to have the eagle land on his shoulder, but he didn't flinch.

The eagle's handler quickly came over to retrieve the bird and it appears Paxton suffered no ill effects from his brush with one of nature's most majestic creatures. After all, Paxton is nicknamed the "Big Maple." Gibson threw six shutout innings in his 2018 debut last week against Baltimore.

The Minnesota second baseman hit his fourth home run in four days and his hustle on the bases sparked a rally as the Twins handed the Pittsburgh Pirates their first loss of the season with a 7-3 victory at frigid PNC Park on Wednesday night. With that in mind, I think I have to lean toward the Twins for the win but otherwise I'm just going to stay away and enjoy the game. Knebel threw a 95 miles per hour fastball for ball two, then stumbled to the ground and left with the assistance of trainers.

"When I saw him like perk up on Paxton's arm, I'm gone", Buxton said. Twins closer Fernando Rodney joked about using one of the imaginary arrows he shoots into the air after converting a save to try to bring down the bird.
