The NBA's latest debutante, 32-year-old G League lifer Andre Ingram, shares more in common with the Association's elder statesmen than the teenagers who comprise the bulk of the 2017-18 rookie class. After spending ten seasons in the G League (formerly known as the D League), Andre Ingram finally got his call.

It may not have had the fairytale ending of a win for the point guard on the night, as the Lakers lost 105-99 to the Rockets at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, but he was still a shining star on the court which everyone appreciated.

Ingram was hot for the Lakers, scoring 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting while adding three rebounds and an assist.

Ingram, the 14th oldest rookie in league history, made his debut after playing 384 games - a full decade - in the developmental G League, including parts of the past six years with the Lakers own affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.

"Of course there were times of, 'I'm not sure if this day is going to happen or not, '" Ingram said of doubts that often crept in during his grind. As quickly as we went out as a workers for warmups, I merely felt some electrical power in the marketplace. "It was awesome. The crowd, the lights - it was once in a lifetime". "MVP chants, that's just insane", Ingram told reporters.

Among Laker debuts since the franchise moved to Los Angeles, Ingram's performance is overshadowed only by those of Magic Johnson (26 points in 1979), Van Exel and Jerry West (20 points in 1960), according to Elias Sports Bureau. "Like I said [to myself], 'Make the free throw, make the free throw, make the free throw'". "I told him, 'Much respect.' I mean, 10 years grinding in the G League, to finally get an opportunity and to play like that, it's pretty special".

Ingram will have another opportunity to face National Basketball Association competition when the Lakers close out their season at Staples vs. the Clippers on Thursday.
