Dance Mom Star Abby Lee Miller Has Emergency Spinal Surgery Due To Infection In Spine

JoJo Siwa is opening up about her Dance Moms mentor, Abby Lee Miller, after Miller was preliminarily diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma on Wednesday, one day after undergoing emergency back surgery.

Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma originates in the lymphatic system, a part of the circulatory system involved with the body's immune response.

Samer Saah, a rep for Dr. Hooman Melamed, a spinal surgeon at Cedar Sinai Marina Del Rey Hospital, tells E! He told People, this is a preliminary diagnosis but he anticipates she will need chemotherapy or radiation dependent on the "sensitivity of the tumor".

Following an MRI, it was determined that Miller had an infection in her spine and immediate surgery was required. "She was completely paralyzed from the neck down". News that Abby Lee had to undergo an emergency surgery after an infection in her spine was discovered.

"If we didn't do something, she was going to die".

According to the doctor, her situation is already life-threatening, and her blood pressure was already critically low.

Melamed explained Abby Lee Miller's condition is something that they haven't seen and was "extremely unusual". "She was not doing well", he adds. Instead, her pain is being caused by "a type of cancer".

Miller reportedly fell ill while staying at a halfway house after her release from prison for bankruptcy fraud. "That's a reality that's facing all of these patients going into it", Melamed said".

Not long after her release from prison, the "Dance Moms" diva was sent via ambulance to a local LA hospital where she was treated for a thyroid condition two weeks ago.

Now her medical team are rallying around Miller to ensure she gets the best treatment possible, whether it be radiation or chemotherapy.

Earlier this year, Entertainment Tonight reported Miller had lost about 100 lbs. and was feeling "great".

Her most recent post is from five days ago, where she thanks fans for well-wishes and quoted The Pointer Sisters" song "I'm So Excited'. I'm more than sorry for the mistakes I have made.
