With 2019 edition being a 10-team World Cup and considering the fact that only 8 teams play Champions Trophy, the T20 format stands to benefit Associate members.

The World Cup in England and Wales starts on May 30, with the final slated for Lord's on July 14.

Chief Executives Meeting in Kolkata on Tuesday, it was decided that Virat Kohli's team will take on the Proteas two days later than what was originally planned as the IPL now has a separate window and was included in the ICC's Future Tours Programme as a global event past year. "Earlier, we were scheduled to start on June 2 but we couldn't have played on that day".

India and Pakistan last met in World Cup match back in 2015 where India emerged victorious. The reason for a delayed start for them is due to a request from the BCCI for a 15 day window between the IPL and an global match.

But it would involve huge cost in converting the football pitch to a cricket outfield as well as the instillation of drop in pitches in England for the first time.

Also in Kolkata on Tuesday (April 24), the third day of a week of ICC meetings, the BCCI's proposed FTP from 2019 to 2023 was presented to the ICC.

Proteas batsman AB de Villiers insists a World Cup victory won't define his career but does admit it would be "nice to win it".
