Steele's office refused to lay charges against Cosby when Andrea Constand first came to them in 2005.

That ruling was a victory for prosecutors eager to move the case beyond a he-said, she-said.

"When it started to sink in, I got so disgusted", Lublin said. "Am I awake? It's a miracle".

Sorry to break this to you, Bill, but Cliff Huxtable is history.

"They were only just doing the right thing", she said of Constand and the other women. The actor is accused that in 2004, Cosby drugged the employee of Temple University of Konstanz Andreu, who hails from Toronto, drugs, and then raped in a country estate.

"I didn't want Cosby to see me face to face". No sentencing date has been set.

Cosby waved to the crowd outside the courthouse, got into an SUV and left without saying anything. Some of his accusers were in court and cheered as the verdict was announced.

Cosby's public fall from grace was finally - and somewhat arbitrarily - triggered in late 2014 when comedian Hannibal Buress mentioned, during his comedy routine, that Cosby had raped women.

But legal experts said the 80-year-old certainly will spend less time than that behind bars, and there's a very real possibility that he may not ever be incarcerated.

Gloria Allred, the famed women's rights attorney who represents women suing Cosby, said this was the happiest she had been in 42 years.

All those vocal critics of #metooNZ when it launched, need to hear this next one - not a single survivor has insisted on naming and shaming their harasser. "But the major difference is the the number of women who alleged he had assaulted them to be introduced to the jury to give examples of bad acts".

Ms Constand reported the attack, but the district attorney refused to press charges.

Cosby "was a man who had evaded this moment for far too long", Steele said.

"He used his wealth, he used his network of supporters to help him hide his crimes. We don't think Mr. Cosby's guilty of anything, and the fight is not over", he said.

Cosby has been found guilty of three counts of aggravated #Indecent Assault.

Its release helped destroy the "Cosby Show" star's career and good-guy image.

Temple University, the Philadelphia school that counted Cosby as its most famous alum, revoked his honorary degree.

Any sympathy, though, for Cosby would be misplaced. Cosby's lawyers slammed #MeToo, calling Cosby its victim and likening it to a witch hunt or a lynching.

Walking into the Pennsylvania courtroom this month, Lotte-Lublin said she felt nervous to testify in front of Cosby. In 2006, Constand and Cosby settled a civil lawsuit for $3.38 million. In the deposition, the TV star acknowledged obtaining quaaludes in the 1970s to give to women he wanted to have sex with.

"He will be able to take into consideration Cosby's age, the status of his health, the philanthropic work that he's done over the last several decades, the fact that this is his first criminal conviction - all of those will be factors that the judge can take into consideration when sentencing him". He also found success with his "Fat Albert" animated TV show and served as pitchman for Jello-O pudding.

He had been "foolish" and "ridiculous" in being attracted to a younger woman but he was no criminal.

Jury names were also withheld by the court at the end of Cosby's first trial, which ended in a mistrial. But the verdict spoke directly to their experiences, they said.

And as our ideas about victims and sexual assault changed radically and with a speed that not even Chuck Yeager, the man who broke the sound barrier, could have anticipated, so did our requirements for due process.
