Martial appeared from the bench as United defeated Arsenal 2-1 on Sunday in Arsene Wenger's final visit to Old Trafford before he steps down as Gunners manager in the summer.

Wenger likes the idea of rebuilding the national set-up all the way up from the kids and also is aware the pressure of the job will be nowhere near as intense as the last few years at Arsenal, where he has come under constant attack and been abused, with the club failing to win the league for 14 years.

Wenger was applauded to the dug-out by United fans — "Once you are not a danger any more, people love you", he said — and received a vase from Ferguson before kickoff. "I would be surprised if I meet him next year".

Mourinho in a post-match conference after United won 2-1 said, "I hope that I play against him again, I hope that can happen", said Mourinho.

Wenger has now been tasked with steering Arsenal to Europa League glory as the Gunners look to book their place in the Champions League group stage for next season.

"It's a sickener but overall I believe the positive performance was there, and some players stood up to the level that was requested and showed a big quality", he told Arsenal Player after the game.

"If not in the Premier League, who knows, we still have a big match waiting for us". Manchester United nearly secured second spot with a late goal from Fellaini.

Former United player Henrikh Mkhitaryan equalized in the 51st — two minutes after Lukaku hobbled off — but Arsenal's players exhausted in the final 20 minutes and Fellaini made them pay, glancing in Ashley Young's cross. "It made the Premier League".

United take on Brighton, West Ham and Watford in their remaining three Premier League games before they face Chelsea in the FA Cup final on May 19.
