I can still play football, says Wenger

The Frenchman will take charge of his final Arsenal game when his side travel to face Huddersfield on Sunday, bringing down the curtain on nearly 22 years at the helm.

The club are keen to appoint Wenger's successor before the start of the World Cup, meaning there's just a three-week gap between the end of the season and the first game in Russian Federation.

"I think the earlier, the better", Wenger said when asked if an appointment should be made ahead of the World Cup, but he refused to be drawn on who he favoured.

It was the seventh straight loss on the road for Arsenal since the turn of the year, an embarrassing statistic for Wenger at the culmination of his reign of 22 years.

Cazorla, 33, is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a return to LaLiga, with former club Villarreal said to be among a host of interested parties.

Wenger says his successor can not be afraid to bring fresh ideas to Arsenal, who have missed out on Champions League qualification in each of the past two seasons. "But I am very passionate and at a very young age I realised that if I want to survive in this job I have to get control over my emotions or I will not survive", he told his final pre-match news conference.

"There are some people here who I employed 20 years ago who did fight for me every single day so it is not easy to say goodbye".

Wenger admitted to finding aspects of his exit "strange" but has learned to keep his emotions in check.

This photo is simply titled "Le Double" as a tribute to the French pair's achievements, but Adams apparently took issue, commenting: "Just letting you know Arsenal that I was Captain when we won that double but hay not a bad follow on". That helps me a lot.

"We're here to win games and we're here to perform", defender Morgan added. "That's what is a really big part of my personality".
