"By the power vested in me as the Returning Officer, I hereby return Professor Kolapo Olusola as the duly nominated gubernatorial candidate of the PDP for Ekiti State governorship election, having scored the highest number of votes cast in this election", he said.

He said the PDP would record another "16-0" in July election.

Meanwhile, one of the governorship aspirants in the PDP primary, and Senator representing the Ekiti South in the Senate, Abiodun Olujimi has stepped down for the former Minister of State for Work, Prince Dayo Adeyeye.

"I want to assure our national leaders that Ekiti is for PDP".

He said: "I congratulate the PDP, Ekiti State on this anytransparent, peaceful, free, and fair outing. I appeal to them in the overall interest of the party to work for our common goal".

Stating that the Ekiti people will resist money politics and violence, the candidate stressed that the party will no longer accommodate those he referred to as interlopers.

Mr Okowa in announcing the results, hailed the contestants and delegates for displaying maturity, pointing out that this had again confirmed that the PDP was truly a democratic party.

"It is only when people want to serve themselves, they coerce citizens to queue behind them through imposition rather than selling themselves or their preferred candidates to the people who should have the ultimate power to elect or not to elect anyone as their leader in a democracy". We are no more ready for that.

"We are a party where integrity, fairness, and transparency hold sway as the order of the day; a party where there is order and leadership is respected".

Responding, Olusola said he would continue to display loyalty to the party and he thanked those who facilitated his victory.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Kola Ologbondiyan in the statement also lauded the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led electoral committee for ensuring a transparent exercise and a level playing ground for all aspirants in the primary election.

"The state governor once said his deputy was his anointed and that nobody could stand against him, it was the two of us that had the courage that came out to challenge him".

Prince Secondus said that the real victor from the exercise is democracy and not any individual as the PDP family in Ekiti would be healthier from the primary.
