LIVE: At Least One Wounded After Gunman Reportedly Seen On Campus At High School In Palmdale

After a lockdown of more than two hours, the school started releasing students to parents and guardians, Principal Chris Grado said on Twitter.

He says one student was shot in the arm and the shooting stemmed from a dispute between the shooter and the victim.

Officials said deputies searched the elementary school and found no evidence of a shooting.

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the head and a 15-year-old girl shot in the wrist at Sal Castro Middle School in Los Angeles on February 1, officials said.

Deputies headed to the high school around 7 a.m. after receiving calls of someone with a gun at the campus located in the 39000 block of 25th Street West. Deputies found the suspect off campus.

The department added that the suspect was arrested off-campus and a rifle was recovered off-campus, and the shooting appears to be an isolated incident with no further threats to the community.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department tweeted that the victim was hospitalized and in stable condition, and that the suspect was a male juvenile.

"I had all the kids run", teacher Elizabeth Cramer said.

"I was supposed to be going to school earlier than I was, but was late", she said.

Parents and students were outside the school crying as investigators remained on campus. He said he heard one shot and turned. "I'm startled thinking it's one of my ROTC members".

George said he'd seen the teen on campus, but didn't know him.

Meanwhile, the Sheriff's Department searched the campus of Manzanita Elementary School in Palmdale, about 6 miles east of Highland High, after a report of "shots heard".

Authorities placed both the high school and the elementary school on lockdown.

Highland High students were evacuated and brought to the Antelope Valley Mall.

Firefighter-paramedics told NBC Los Angeles they received a report of one person with a gunshot wound, though any injuries couldn't be independently confirmed. "Alexander, turn around, turn around, there's an active shooter.' And I didn't really have time to react to that because nearly immediately after that I heard one single gunshot very loud and very close by".

It wasn't clear Friday afternoon if the shooting happened outside or inside the school.
