Dan is 2-2 with 4 holds and a 4.38 ERA (6 ER, 12.1 IP) in 13 relief appearances with the Mariners this season. Cano remained near home plate for a bit after being hit by a pitch from left-hander Blaine Hardy, and he eventually went to the dugout while being replaced by a pinch runner.

The biggest escape came after he left in the fifth. Hardy is more of a reliever, but he's done fairly well so far.

Mahtook's RBI double made it 4-2 in the seventh, but Seattle tied it the following inning against Joe Jimenez.

Also in the second game, Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire was ejected in the bottom of the fifth inning by plate umpire Carlos Torres.

James Paxton, who struck out 16 hitters against Oakland and threw a no-hitter against Toronto in his two previous starts, allowed six hits and three runs while striking out four and walking none in six innings. Detroit's Jose Iglesias hit a two-run shot in the first game. With two out, Gordon hit a grounder to the right side, but Jimenez mishandled the toss from first baseman John Hicks for an error, loading the bases. Mike Zunino followed with a single, putting men on first and third, and another walk loaded the bases. Jean Segura followed with a two-run single.

The Tigers are planning to start lefty Matthew Boyd (1-3, 3.00 ERA), who has 26 strikeouts and nine walks to his name, as well as a WHIP of 1.06.

Kyle Seager homered for Seattle, and Goodrum went deep for the Tigers (17-22).

Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano was pulled from Sunday's game against the Tigers after sustaining a hand injury in the third inning.

The Mariners have not yet announced a timetable for Cano's recovery, though a fracture bone in the hand will likely cost him several weeks.

Felix Hernandez (5-3) got the win but labored through five innings, allowing five runs and eight hits.

He allowed five runs in his first outing of the season on April 1.
