Taking one step closer to showcase diversity, Marvel Studios recently confirmed they are looking at making a Ms Marvel movie in the future.

"Infinity War", with $1.06 billion overseas, is also the first superhero film to gross more than $1 billion overseas.

A fourth Avengers film has been scheduled for release in one year.

Incidentally, the previous all-time movie record-holder was from the same franchise, with the original Marvel's The Avengers grossing S$13.7 million in 2012. It ousted Universal's "The Fate of the Furious", which drew $541.9 million worldwide on its opening box office release in 2017. The IMAX domestic network reported multiple sell-out screenings with IMAX representing 8 of the film's top 10 North America engagements.

Hit film Avengers: Infinity War is doing just as well for IMAX as it is for Marvel Studios: the company announces that the film - the first ever to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras - is the best-ever IMAX opening for a Marvel title and the third largest IMAX opening of all time.

On its way to becoming the biggest Hollywood film in India with net earnings of over Rs 200 crore, Infinity War posted opening weekend numbers of over Rs 120 crore.

Now, AIW is the fifth highest-grossing film of all-time in global markets, only behind Avatar ($2.02 billion), Titanic ($1.52 billion), Furious 7 ($1.16 billion), and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($1.13 billion).

After amassing $61.8 million in domestic screens and $281.3 million from global markets in its third weekend, the running worldwide total of AIW now stands at a staggering $1.61 billion gross. The box office is likely to see a boost in coming weeks as "Deadpool 2" opens May 18 and "Solo: A Star Wars Story" bows on May 25.

Avengers: Infinity War is now in theaters.

"Infinity War" is now poised to pass 2015's "Jurassic World" ($1.67 billion) and take a real run at joining "Avatar", "Titanic" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" as the only movies to cross the $2 billion mark.
