The company's response followed Barr's unusual explanation of the early Tuesday Twitter rant that got her show cancelled as a bad Ambien-fueled mistake.

Arnold went on to say that he not only campaigned to production several times to try and take her phone away, but when that didn't work, even drafted a statement for her to release to fans saying she was going to "take a step back" from Twitter.

On Tuesday, the family sitcom was abruptly cancelled by USA network ABC after its star and creator, Roseanne Barr, posted a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, a former administration advisor to Barack Obama.

The fallout started after the comedian went off on a freakish Twitter rant attacking people including Barack Obama's former senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, who is African-American.

"I'm exhausted of being smeared over a stupid mistake erasing 30 years of activism", she said in one. "As you say, those ordinary examples of racism that happen every single day".

The star said he'd rather say nothing about the show or co-star Roseanne Barr "to cause more trouble".

Roseanne's show was cancelled after she referred to Jarrett as an "ape" and suggested she was a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood political movement.

"I'm not a racist, I never was and I never will be", she tweeted on Thursday (Wednesday local time). "The Roseanne I know could probably use some compassion and help right now", he tweeted.

"I wasn't gonna get an Emmy anyway", Goodman smiled.

The 65-year-old comedy actress saw her eponymous show cancelled following a racist remark she made about former White House adviser Valerie Jarrett.

Although there have been rumblings about the sitcom possibly being picked up by a conservative network, it remains to be seen if Barr's racist comments will have long-lasting effects on her career.

Reruns on Hulu, Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT have also been pulled from the air and Barr was dropped from her talent agency ICM. In any other industry, if you go to bat for your friend and join hands with them in a business deal only for them to screw you over that is your loss.

Roseanne originally ran for nine seasons from 1988 to 1997, and was greenlit in 2017 for a revived 10 season with the original cast.

For another thing, Barr doesn't own the entire rights to "Roseanne". There already is speculation that ABC may try to figure out a way to make a sitcom featuring the Conner family members without "Roseanne". "I made a mistake I wish I hadn't but... don't defend it please".
