Microsoft's managed to elegantly design the device in a way that gives the impression of the entire gadget being one solid form. The new Microsoft tablet utilises Intel Pentium Gold 4415Y processor which is a seventh generation component and the company says it enhances performance, battery life and lends better cooling to the device. No, not the Surface Pro 3 meant to replace your laptop, but the smaller 10.8-inch model that was meant to go head-to-head with the iPad. There's also a $549 model of the Surface Go that has 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD.

The port is joined by a Surface Connect slot, headphone jack and MicroSD card reader. The Windows 10 Pro variants will be costing $50 extra than the standard variants.

Redmond's take on the educational sector is the Surface Go, which is another 2 in 1 tablet, but with a $399 starting price and accessories that cost $99 a piece if a user is to fully utilize the gadget's features. In the future, SKUs with 256GB SSDs, as well as LTE connectivity will be available, though pricing information is not yet available. Microsoft has added a USB-C 3.1 port, capable of charging the tablet or outputting video and data to external devices. There's an 8MP camera on the rear also supports HD recording.

Microsoft release a US$499 Surface 3 tablet in 2015, but discontinued the product in 2016.

Weighing just over 520g and with a 8.3mm body, it's a damn compact 10-inch device. The device will reportedly retail for $400, include a USB-C port, and be 20 percent lighter than the current Surface Pro models, which now start at $799.

The tech giant makes extremely popular productivity software, the Windows operating system, and enterprise software.

The Surface line has always been focused on creative professionals, which has made most of the entries a bit too steep for casual tablet usage.

Since my two youngest daughters have started using Surface Go, I see them watching movies, reading, and drawing on it every day. Surface Go will support Dolby Audio Premium as well as the Surface Pen.

The Surface Go with the optional detachable keyboard, mouse and stylus.

So. should you buy this new Surface? The Go can plug into a monitor for a more traditional desktop experience. Here is the list of countries where the Surface Go will be available on pre-orders Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K and U.S. The device will be also coming to other markets in the near future. It will be available for preorders starting today and the shipping will begin in August.
