Thieves with stroller allegedly steal shark from San Antonio aquarium

A surveillance video shows a woman carrying a toddler or infant away from the stroller, walking nonchalantly as the two men take the stroller - now dripping water and holding a shark - to a staircase.

Police located the truck involved in the shark heist early Monday morning and Salvaggio said when news outlets broadcast the information and surveillance footage, viewers began calling police and pointed to a home near where the truck was found.

A stolen shark was returned to the San Antonio Aquarium on Monday night, to a raucous ovation, after its shocking theft was captured on video.

Three people pulled off a freakish heist involving a stolen shark from the San Antonio Aquarium, police say.

The three suspects arrived at the San Antonio Aquarium, in Texas, on Saturday afternoon armed with a baby stroller and a net. Police Chief Joseph Salvaggio says two others are expected to be charged. "The 16-inch-long horn shark was stolen from our tide pool exhibit while the attendant was assisting other guests", wrote the aquarium in a Facebook post shared nine hours ago.

"It was something he wanted, he had one of these in the past", said Salvaggio.

Salvaggio said he's not sure the shark will make it through the ordeal.

On Saturday, July 28th one of our employees reported seeing suspicious activity from three people around one of our interactive shark touch pools.

Officials say the suspects confessed to stealing the horn shark, valued at $2,000, and could face felony theft charges. Two men and a woman with a infant wandered through the facility with a baby stroller in tow.

Spellman went out to the parking lot to confront the group about the shark theft.

"We are offering a reward for any tips that lead to the recovery of this animal", the aquarium said, without specifying what the reward would be.

Police don't believe the shark was taken to sell but to be added to the suspect's collection.
