When asked if Bangladesh will be willing to take back the illegal citizens staying in India Inu said'As of now India has not shared NRC findings with us and has not raised the issue. Until they do so we will not speak

Flaying the Opposition for questioning Assam's draft National Register of Citizens (NRC), BJP President Amit Shah on Tuesday demanded that all political parties should clarify their stand on "Bangladeshi infiltrators".

Addressing the media, the BJP chief said, "It is odd that everyone is talking about human rights of the illegal immigrant but no is talking about the human rights violation of the citizens of Assam". While talking to reporters in Kolkata, the High Commissioner also said this issue has not been raised at the official level by the government of India with the Bangladesh government at any stage and mentioned that he will not interfere in an internal matter.

Sonowal said after the publication of first draft of NRC, people cutting across all castes and tribes, religious, linguistic divides residing in the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys, plains and hills of the State showed tremendous unity and harmony.

With an eye on the 2019 national election, the BJP's Hindu-first campaign has become more strident, critics say, playing to its core base with divisive programs such as the citizenship test in Assam, already a tinderbox of ethnic and religious tensions. "Those, who could not prove their citizenship, their names have been removed from the list", he said.

The migrants included many Hindus, but Modi has issued orders stating that no Hindu or members of other minorities from Pakistan or Bangladesh would be considered an illegal immigrant even if they entered the country without valid documents before 2014.

Shah said former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had signed the Assam Accord on August 14, 1985 after the movement in the state went out of control leading to death of some protesters.

According to officials of the government, no large scale migration has taken place after the War of Independence or is taking place now from Bangladesh and Assam.

To this, the bench said the government is free to do whatever it wants and the court will examine it. He said that it could also reduce the number of MLAs and MPs from minority-dominated constituencies in the state.

Hundreds of Bengali-speaking Muslims whose nationality is suspect are already living in half a dozen detention camps in Assam state. No action should be taken against anybody on the basis of the draft. Several forces, at the global level, are trying to create disorder, saying that updating the NRC is an issue between Muslims and non-Muslims.

Amid the uproar, Rajya Sabha chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu told members that home minister Rajnath Singh will come to the House after attending to his duties in the Lok Sabha and reply to the "sensitive and serious matter".

The renewed process to update the list began in 2015 under the supervision of the Supreme Court of India. I urge the people to stay united to defeat all such evil designs.

"Any person who is not satisfied with the outcome of the claims and objections can file appeal before the Foreigners Tribunal", he added.

The much-awaited complete NRC draft was published today amid tight security.
