Lakers News: Terrell Owens Thanks Kobe Bryant In 2018 Pro Football Hall Of Fame Speech For Setting Gold Standard

Ray Lewis joined Brian Dawkins, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Brian Urlacher, Jerry Kramer, Bobby Beathard, and Robert Brazile as the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees.

The six-time Pro Bowler compiled 15,934 receiving yards and 153 receiving touchdowns on 1,078 career receptions.

Moss paid homage to Green, who likely who have presented the Vikings Ring of Honor member at his induction ceremony. From beginning to end, the crowd was hanging on every word that came out of T.O.'s mouth during a mostly heartfelt speech.

He summed up a lot of what all the Hall of Famers said this weekend, "I think I played because I wanted to be part of a team - that's why most of us played, to be part of a team". They were going to mail it to him Saturday.

"For all my teammates, coaches and equipment managers who are in attendance today, I want to thank you all", Moss said. "I've already reached out to you guys individually, and I expressed, and I will express it again, my utmost respect for each of you and for what we have accomplished".

"For her to understand what this jacket means to me ..."

Owens said during his speech he made that decision because he believes sportswriters "disregarded the system" in regard to his Hall of Fame candidacy, after he took three years to be inducted. "The men who coached me are my fathers".

"I have a little work to do here, but I'll be home as soon as I'm done, so you all can lay eyes on this gold jacket because it is ours", Moss added. An eight-time All-Pro and inside linebacker on the 2000s NFL All-Decade Team, he had a franchise-record 2,643 career tackles. The crowd included Owens' mother, former San Francisco 49ers teammates Derrick Deese and Marquez Pope, former Cincinnati Bengals teammate Kyries Hebert and two of his former National Football League position coaches, Ray Sherman and Larry Kirksey. By holding his own ceremony, Owens heard short speeches from five coaches, including three former position coaches, with James Kirksey and Ray Sherman from the NFL. "Trust me when I tell you, it is family", said Urlacher.

Dawkins was the leader of an Eagles defense that made four straight NFC championship games and one Super Bowl.

Also a senior committee nominee, Brazile was drafted sixth overall out of Jackson State, two picks behind his teammate.
