On Sunday, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office shared security camera footage of the woman in an attempt to help identify her.

Chilling footage showed the woman ringing a doorbell at a home in Montgomery, located outside Houston at 3:20 a.m. last Friday.

I tend to avoid answering the door if I'm not expecting someone.

In the note, Collins expressed remorse for what he had done to the woman, Spencer said.

The sheriff's office says the woman is safe with family.

"The female is confirmed to be safe and with family".

KSAT's sister station in Houston, KPRC-TV, reported that authorities believed the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. "We only have one side of the story right now", Lt. Spencer said.

She was not at her boyfriend's home when deputies arrived, they said. Deputies have canvassed the area, completed a door to door check and interviews of (residents) as well as businesses in the area.
