Law enforcement is responding to reports of an officer-involved shooting at a horse-racing track, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

As the field for the race pulled up past the finish, TVG host Todd Schrupp exclaimed, "There's gunfire at the track".

The San Diego Sheriff's Department says a man who was told no more tickets were available to an Ice Cube concert at a racetrack was shot by a sheriff's deputy after he fired his gun into a crowd.

Rider Drayden Van Dyke, was thrown from his spooked steed during the gunfire.

Video provided by Fox San Diego showed deputies struggling with a man in a white shirt on the ground.

The department says in a news release that the man, whose name and age were not given, came to the ticket window at the Del Mar Fairgrounds about 6:40 p.m. He wanted a ticket to this evening's concert.

"An argument ensued", the sheriff said in a statement.

Deputies returned fire, according to the sheriff's office, and the man was struck.

In addition to the Ice Cube concert, the venue's schedule included a full day of races.

The sheriff's department said the alleged gunman shot by deputies was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. However, a video posted on Twitter appeared to show a man holding a handgun, with two deputies nearby. No one else is believed to have been injured in the incident.

Ambulances and helicopters were also seen shortly after the shooting.
