Seahawks Declined New Offer From Cowboys Before Earl Thomas Reported to Seattle

Seahawks free safety Earl Thomas announced Sunday on Twitter his intentions to hold out from mini-camp and further team activities with the Seahawks until his contract situation is resolved

Seahawks free safety Earl Thomas announced Sunday on Twitter his intentions to hold out from mini-camp and further team activities with the Seahawks until his contract situation is resolved

Thomas' reaction to the lack of a resolution was clear in his post: "The disrespect has been noted and will not be forgotten".

The Cowboys would have to surrender what Seattle wants in draft compensation to make this worth Seattle's while, otherwise, Thomas is forfeiting practice and game checks to them while he holds out for a new deal or trade.

Thomas also expressed his frustration with the Seahawks not honoring his requests for either a contract extension or to be traded.

"I worked my whole life for this", he wrote on instagram. "Father Time may have an undefeated record but best believe I plan on taking him into triple overtime when it comes to my career", he wrote on Instagram today. They even upped their offer to a second as of this morning. Those are all at team discretion, though, and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the Seahawks "did agree to wipe away nearly all of his fines". Time will tell, but for now, Thomas will remain in Seattle.

Fish reports that Seattle informed the Cowboys a second-round pick for Earl Thomas wasn't enough to acquire the All-Pro safety, and Stephen Jones and the Cowboys balked.

Seattle had been thought wanting at least a second-round pick all along with it thought Dallas had not offered more than a third.

Shortly before Thomas announced his return, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Cowboys had made another push to trade for the All-Pro safety.

Wednesday's news of Thomas reporting to his current team might well lead to both sides considering it a stalemate.
