"What was Nike thinking?" asked Trump, apparently doubling down on his criticism of the apparel and footwear brand for signing and making Colin Kaepernick the face of its 30 anniversary celebration of its iconic "Just Do It" campaign.

Since Cruz and the Texas GOP began attacking O'Rourke in earnest a couple of weeks ago, they've maligned the El Paso rep for being in a band, knowing how to skateboard and saying "fuck" too frequently on the campaign trail, in addition to trying as hard as they can to mimic President Donald Trump's campaign against the NFL.

"Nike's online sales actually grew 31% from the Sunday of Labor Day weekend through Tuesday, as compared with a 17% gain recorded for the same period of 2017", Marketwatch adds.

Meanwhile, interest in Nike stock is also jumping.

"There was speculation that the Nike/Kaepernick campaign would lead to a drop in sales", Edison Trends co-founder Hetal Pandya said. In addition to James and Williams, it featured Kenyan distance runner Eliud Kipchoge and lesser-known athletes including Isaiah Bird, a 10-year-old wrestler who was born without legs; German boxer Zeina Nassar; wheelchair basketball standout Megan Blunk; Canadian soccer phenom Alphonso Davies; Seahawks rookie Shaquem Griffin; and triathlete Charlie Jabaley. An endorsement deal between Nike and Colin Kaepernick prompted a flood of debate Tuesday as sports fans reacted to the apparel giant backing an athlete known mainly for starting a wave of protests among National Football League players of police brutality, racial inequality and other social issues. "Believe in something", the ad concludes.

Falwell told USA Today that Nike's campaign alone may not be enough to cut ties. Between Wednesday and Friday evening it had been viewed almost 14 million times on YouTube.

"I think Nike is trying to get out ahead of it and trying to do something special and I think they've done that", Woods said at the BMW Championship.

Tiger Woods on Friday called the ad a "beautiful spot". Kaepernick watched the first television airing on NBC at an event held at Nike's headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. Comments about Kaepernick jumped an astonishing 360,000 percent, according to trend-tracking company 4C Insights, Marketwatch reported.

In a "Fox & Friends" interview at Trump's rally in Montana, Trump said he didn't like "what Nike did". Forbes has estimated Nike was paying $13 million a year in rent.
